FIRST, A LITTLE ABOUT ME...

Hello, my name is Debi Hedderwick, I am a choreographer, performer, producer, creative educator and mentor based in Derbyshire.

I am a co-founder and Creative Director of Learning Through Arts, (an independent arts organisation that develops inclusive and inspiring creative learning projects across all sectors of the community). I also work as an independent artist, and have a specialism in working with young people and those with additional and complex needs. I am the artistic director and founder of both a professional dance theatre company The Secret Dance Club, and locally based inclusive Youth Dance Company Wirksworth INdependDANCE.

I have worked throughout my career with the belief that being involved dance is a profoundly transformative experience that enhances mental health and emotional well-being, as well as physical health benefits, and am committed to offering dance opportunities to all.

I am currently Chair of Arts Derbyshire, countywide strategic and development arts charity.

In 2018 I was awarded a British Citizen Award for contribution to the arts.
